The OWSH Schema & Sitemap Snapshot browser extension does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data or browsing information.
2. How the Extension Works
- All schema and sitemap analysis is performed locally in your browser.
- No data is sent to external servers for analysis.
- No cookies are set.
- No tracking of any kind.
3. Permissions Explained
- activeTab: Required to analyze the current webpage's schema markup when you click the extension.
- scripting: Required to extract JSON-LD and Microdata schema from the page.
- host permissions: Allows the extension to fetch robots.txt and sitemap.xml files from the current site for analysis.
4. Network Requests
The extension makes the following network requests, all to the site you are currently viewing:
- /robots.txt: To check for sitemap references and crawl directives.
- /sitemap.xml: To analyze sitemap structure and URL count.
- /sitemap_index.xml: To check for sitemap index files.
These requests are made only to the domain of the page you are viewing. No data is sent to OWSH servers.
5. External Links
The extension provides optional links to external tools for further analysis:
- Google Rich Results Test: Opens Google's schema validator with your current URL.
- Full Report: Opens audit.owshsystems.com/schema-sitemap with your current page URL as a query parameter.
Clicking these links is entirely optional and requires user action.
